Between now and Dec. 2 — Giving Tuesday — The Journal News and lohud.com, in cooperation with Nonprofit Westchester, will spotlight local charities that need a hand.

What they do: Songcatchers offers musical programs to children residing in low-income households with the goal of enriching their lives through the development of a lifelong appreciation of the arts. Based in New Rochelle, the organization provides after-school instruction in 13 instruments, including the xylophone. It also hosts a summer choir camp and two instrumental day camps.

  • Over 6,000 kids have received musical instruction from Songcatchers.
  • Songcatchers provides musical instruction in 13 different instruments.
