Songcatchers concludes National Volunteer Month by thanking ALL our volunteers who serve in the After-School Music, Early Childhood, and Choir Camp programs throughout the year. Simply put, we could not run our programs without the talents and countless service hours of all those who teach and serve our students and campers!!
Here's one final volunteer spotlight: meet Michael!
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: MICHAEL
Michael is a freshman at Manhattanville College and has played the piano for 11 years. He is majoring in music education and hopes to become a full-time music teacher, church organist, and choirmaster. Michael also plays the organ and wants to become a professional improviser and a concert pianist/organist! Michael is currently working with our most advanced piano students, passing along to them his knowledge of music. He says, "I feel that volunteering at Songcatchers has given me the best experience I’ve been hoping for...I really enjoy working with my students and I hope to expand with more opportunities in the coming years!"
Listen below a Michael performs "The Maple Leaf Rag" by Scott Joplin.
