Our Story

The Songcatchers Orchestra originated during the 2023 Volunteer Appreciation concert when six of our volunteers, who were part of an NYSSMA Gold Medal award-winning NR High School Orchestra, performed together. Recognizing the potential to foster collaboration among our young volunteers, our Executive Director established the Songcatchers Orchestra, primarily composed of our dedicated Volunteer Staff.

Leading the orchestra is Ariana Barrios, our talented Early Childhood Violin Coordinator, currently studying at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. Ariana has been part of Songcatchers since the age of 3. Orchestra members contribute based on their availability.

The Songcatchers Orchestra debuted at the 2023 New Rochelle Street Fair and has since showcased their talents at various events including the Songcatchers Afternoon Tea, The 27th Annual Concert for Peace, and the Pelham Music Festival. To join our orchestra, volunteering at Songcatchers is a requirement. For more information on joining options, feel free to contact us at 914-654-1178.
