Response to COVID-19 Pandemic
Songcatchers has kept our mission and music alive during the COVID-19 pandemic by:

Offering virtual online lessons to students in our After-School Music Program and Early Childhood Music Programs

Giving advanced students private online lessons with our professional mentors

Partnering with local food pantries, service organizations, and city government to provide groceries and local restaurant gift cards to families

Initiating a holiday Giving Tree fundraiser to provide gifts to our neediest children and food to their families.

Reaching out to our families on a daily and weekly basis to offer support and help as needed.
In addition, Songcatchers has taken the additional COVID-19 safety protocol steps within the facility:

Practiced social distancing

Purchased medical-grade air purifiers for each room
-
Set up hand sanitizing stations in each room

Instituted a contact tracing system
-
Installed plastic shields on all office desks

Purchased and made available disposable adult and child size masks for use as needed

Developed a daily cleaning and disinfecting routine
-
Currently, we recommend our participants to be vaccinated but vaccinations are not required for entry into our programs.
Balcony Ballads
Rosemarie Castellano, Songcatchers Board member and longtime volunteer, began playing her violin nightly to connect with her neighbors and honor the frontline workers both near and far.
On May 2, 2020, a few members of our choirs sang along, showing that music has the power to heal, inspire, and bring peace to our world during this time.
