Four Amazing Grants We Received in September!

1. Serviam Ministry Fund of the Eastern Province: $25,000

What would we do without our beloved Ursuline Sisters?!?!! The Ursuline Sisters of the Eastern Province have been staunch supporters of Songcatchers since the very beginning. Sister Beth Dowd, our Founder, is an Ursuline Sister and each year we receive not only financial support, but the Sisters also attend our events, take

pictures, and offer to help in any way they can. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

2. Rebound New Rochelle: $10,000

The City of New Rochelle in partnership with the NR Chamber of Commerce, the NR Business Improvement District, the Business Council of Westchester and members of the private sector, awarded Songcatchers a small business grant. It is aimed at helping local businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to succeed in the new economic climate. We are very grateful to Mayor Noam Bramson and all involved for this generous award which will help us cover business costs like staffing, rent and utilities.

3. Dominican Sisters of Amityville Ministry Support Fund: $4,500

These funds will be used to support our Assistant Director, Kathleen McEntee, in her work directing all our programs. Kathleen has been with Songcatchers since 1997 when she volunteered to teach piano at the After-School Music Program. After receiving a Bachelor degree in Music and a Master of Arts in Teaching, Kathleen joined the Songcatchers staff as the part-time Assistant Director. This grant helps to fund another day a week at Songcatchers for Kathleen. Thank you to the Sisters for this first-time award!

4. D'Addario Foundation: $1,500 cash, $750 in-kind donation

The D’Addario Foundation supports programs that brings music into communities and schools and gets kids playing as early and as frequently as possible. Like Songcatchers, they believe in the transformative power of music, and that mentoring and building communities through music can positively affect social change. This grant will be used for the After-School Music Program. Thank you, D’Addario Foundation, for your support these last few years!
