Mission Statement
Songcatchers Inc. is an organization that reaches for peace through music by providing an array of programs in the performing and visual arts. We aim specifically to provide high quality music and arts education that is affordable and accessible to the neediest members of our community. Leadership development and community-building are hallmarks of all Songcatcher programs. We strive for competence in an atmosphere that fosters mutual respect, appreciation of the arts, and the conviction that peace is possible when people bring beauty into the lives of others. The population served by Songcatchers is multi-cultural and multi-generational.
Songcatchers is widely respected throughout the community, as is demonstrated by its awards from the United Way, Westchester Arts Council, and the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, as well as invitations to perform at a variety of Westchester County events. An excellent relationship exists between Songcatchers and the local school systems – both public and private.
