Celebrating 40 Years of Choir Camp

Updated: Aug 18, 2020

On May 9, 2019, the New Rochelle community celebrated 40 Years of Songcatchers Choir Camp!

Since it started in 1980, Choir camp has enchanted hundreds of children and captured their love of music. Many of these campers reunited on Sunday, May 9th to celebrate not only choir camp, but Sister Beth's lifetime of accomplishments.

Camp Director John Dennehy, and his wife, Jane, were honored for their lifetime of dedicated work and contributions to the Songcatchers organization. Known to many as the 'Mom and Dad' of choir camp, John and Jane have played a huge role in the creation of this community. To many, Camp is a family you join for a lifetime. Nothing could be more evident than the scene of three generations of Dennehys, singing together in our multi-generational choir.

Other honorees included Cecilia Roddy, one of our original Choir Campers, a longtime donor and Board member; Frank and Carmelina DiMarco, former Camp parents, longtime donors and Board members; Mary Driscoll, former Camp staff; and the New Rochelle Campership Fund, who has provided scholarships to Songcatchers campers for many years.
